SCCM 2012 : Deploying Server Authentication Certificate

You can start to deploy your Certificates to your servers.

1. You need to open the Microsoft Management Console from the command prompt, powershell, run dialog or start search box by typing mmc.exe..

2. once the Microsoft Management Console opens, you need to add the Certificate snap-in and request the certificate:

Creating Certificates for Workgroup and Internet client certificate templates and the process of implementing these kinds of clients, so I am going to do a multi-parter.

SCCM 2012 Certificates and Templates for Internet and Workgroup Clients

Creating Certificate Templates for SCCM 2012 (and SP1/R2) Workgroup and Internet clients can be confusing. As a result I have written a How to on creating and enabling each type of Template, deploying the templates and installing the internet and workgroup clients. There are Several tasks that need to be completed to make this happen:

SCOM 2012 R2 Linux Monitoring Cert Error

So I was trying to monitor my Linux server, but I kept getting the following error:

The SSL certificate could not be checked for revocation. The server used to check for revocation might be unreachable.......

The selution to this was very simple... when I typed: hostname -f, it returned just the hostname "computer" not the FQN "". once I changed the hostname to the FQN it was able to create the certificate and validate it.

SCOM 2012 R2 Ubuntu Linux Agent

So I wanted to monitor my Ubuntu 12.04 linux box with SCOM. I had read other places that they were able to do it with the Universal Linux Monitoring Management Pack (Microsoft.Linux.Universal.Monitoring) and Universal Linux (Debian) Discovery (Microsoft.Linux.UniversalD.1) without any problems, but when I tried to discover and install the agent through the console on the server I ran into this error:

Agent installation operation was not successful

Microsoft Azure and direct access through TMG

Now So I've been wanting to setup a domain controller on Microsoft Azure to ensure I always have a domain controller incase everything in my home lab blows up. I have not been able to do that until now because it requires a static IP address and I have had residential internet. Today I finally got my Buisness Class internet installed with static IP addresses so now I can do it.Supprisingly it was not that expensive with comcast! Lets see how it goes. First take a look at the environment I have to connect Azure to through Direct access:

Microsoft Office and Exchange 365

Lately I have been working more with Microsofts Cloud offerings and seeing the growing demand for it. When you look at cost and accessibility, it makes sence for small mom and pop operations, mid-sized growing businesses all the way to the enterprise organization when you have uses with multiple devices (computers, tablets, smart phones, etc), company email, and web portals. Having the ability to easily access your email and office applications on the fly is important, whether it is your PC or Mac computer, Windows RT device, iPad, Android phone, Windows Phone, iPhone. I will look at the Office 365 Home Premium edition, Office 365 Small/Midzided versions and Enterprise options including Exchange 365 and AD/AD FS SSO integration options.

LSI MegaRaid Storage Manager on Ubuntu Linux Desktop (with GUI)

I needed to run LSI MegaRaid Storage Manager (vivaldiframework) for my LSI 9260-8i SAS card in my Ubuntu Desktop. Ubuntu is based on Debian so this may also work to get LSI MegaRaid Storage Manager on Debian as well, but I have not yet tried it yet. It took some work but I go it to install so I thought I would tell you how I did it.

SCCM 2012 R2 Boot Image issues after R2 upgrade

So I upgraded our upgraded System Center 2012 SP1 environment to R2. The main component that was affected was Confiuration Manager but you have to do it in a specific order so I had to do SCORCH, SCSM and SCOM first. I wanted to have it to R2 before we had it proliferated to all of our offices. It was pretty seamless and we actually saw improvements in package the reliability of package distribution to low bandwidth, high latency sites.
