Windows Time zone and OSD in Windows 7

So I have been working on a script in OSD that pulls the timezone of the current DP for the boundary a workstation is imaging in from the DP and insterts it into the (unattend.xml TimeZone tag). this was the easy part, the problem was translating what was returned as the Standard Time Zone name to what Windows 7 uses for the time zone. I finally ended up building a table for this that you can use to translate it from UTC Display to the standard name that is used by OSD (unattend.xml TimeZone tag) I try through powershell to get this with:

LSI MegaRaid Storage Manager on Ubuntu Linux (Server - No GUI)

I needed to run LSI MegaRaid Storage Manager (vivaldiframework) for my LSI 9260-8i SAS card in my Ubuntu Server I built to use as a Fiber Channel SAN (see: Linux Fibre Channel SAN). Ubuntu is based on Debian so this may also work to get LSI MegaRaid Storage Manager on Debian as well, but I have not yet tried it yet. It took some work but I go it to install so I thought I would tell you how I did it.

To Cache or Not to Cache? RAID 6 Or Raid 10? With LSI MegaRAID CacheCade SSD Cache Drives

I was curious, is it worth while having SSD Cache drives in a SSD Array? I also wanted to see the performance differences between RAID 6 vs. RAID 10. Well I built my Poor Man's fiber channel san, and have been using it pretty successfully, but I was wondering just how much it would be worth adding a SSD Cache to it, or If RAID 6 would be better for me than RAID 10. There are no guarantees with this and results may change, but here are my results. Also it is good to note that the CACHE drives are SATA SSD not SAS SSD.

SCCM 2012 R2 OSDFailed to get client identity 80004005

So I was trying to image a computer using PXE. the computer booted into PE but would reboot after loading the network. I rebooted into PXE, hit F8 (you have to have this enabled on your boot image)

IPConfig showed network was properly configured

DiskPart showed I had a drive.

looked in the smsts.log file and I had the error: Failed to get client identity 80004005

everything looks right and it should work. I deleted all unknown computers from the console. rebooted and the same thing.

Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V high latency to guest/client OS

In Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2, especially with older cards and drivers, you may experience very high latency to client/guest OS especially when copying files or using network related services but the host itself has normal netowrk responses. this can be caused by the Virtual Machine Queues (VMQ) setting in the configuration of the physical network adapter. go to the properties of the addapter, then select Configure:

SQL Performance and Queries Optimization

A bit of history: way back in 2000, picking up a little extra cash, I developed a Microsoft Access database for analytical reporting Asbestos and Lead testing Laboratory. I continued to develop and build on that Access Database for the next 6 years, I then took a hiatis and went in to the Peace Corps as a volunteer in Eastern Europe for the next 3+ years. On my way home the company contacted me as they heard I was returning and they wanted me to do a revamp of it. Just returning and having limited funds, I was over joyed to do work on it.

System Center 2012 R2 and SQL Pit Falls

I have been deploying a large number of Configuration Manager DPs and clients as well as 1 console connection per location. We have also been deploying Operations Manager agents to all of our servers at each location. We have done about 40 locations so far. We have know we have had SQL cluster shortfalls but some times the powers that be don't always understand the severity of your warnings. That being said 2 weeks ago I strated to see signs of issues starting. We had to reboot our Primary site servers a few times the during the first of the 2 weeks.

Drupal is a powerful and very robust Content Management System (CMS). This is an easy platform to use for the end user and offers lots of addin modules and themes with a large community supporting it. It is built on PHP and works on a variety of platforms and is well documented.

Drupal can be found at:

Like any platform you run into errors. Here I thought I would put my errors and solutions here.

Drupal : Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Mobile_Detect

So I decided to ad mobile web pages on my site. When I used the Mobile_Detect.php file in my library I occasionally got the following error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Mobile_Detect in <Path>/libraries/Mobile_Detect/Mobile_Detect.php on line 27

The solution was to find in the Mobile_Detect.php nere the line number in the error:

class Mobile_Detect

Change it to:

class Mobile_Detect

SCCM 2012 : Configure your Clients for internet and workgroup clients

Adding Client Certificate through AD Group Policy

Once you have completed Tasks 1-3, you are ready to configure your environment for the internet/workgroup client. Each computer needs to have a certificate created and installed. If these are Domain joined computers, you can do Auto Enrolment through AD Group Policy.
